Place these Nursery Rhymes in your poetry station and your students will have so much fun – again and again! They can work alone or with a partner to build familiar nursery rhymes and practise reading fluency. There are 10 nursery rhymes in total. Prepare once and have them to hand for years to come!
The pack comes in four parts:
PART 1: This is the colour version of each nursery rhyme. This should be laminated for repeated use at your poetry station. A second copy could also be used for whole class reading or as part of a class board display. This colour version can also be printed and made into a nursery rhyme ‘big book’ for your class library.
PART 2: This is the ink-saving version to give you an element of choice. You may wish to print this on coloured paper and laminate for your station. Alternatively, it can be printed on white paper to become a student lapbook. Students can colour the borders.
PART 3: The words can be printed onto white or coloured paper, cut out, laminated, placed in an envelope and stored in a zipped folder, along with the colour version of the nursery rhyme. Easy to grab the folder and place in the station! Students should view the poster to help them build the nursery rhyme correctly, using the cut-out words. Once the nursery rhyme is built, they can practise their reading.
PART 4: This worksheet has been included to you give an element of choice. If you wish to extend students’ learning, this worksheet is perfect for them to demonstrate comprehension. The pictures should be cut out and glued in the correct order to show the sequence of events in the rhyme. Then finish off by colouring!
